Market-moving information doesn't always break in the news first. Sometimes, the signal starts in a podcast.

Every day, executives, investors, analysts and industry experts discuss companies and markets across thousands of podcasts. Occasionally, those conversations contain information or opinions important enough to move individual stocks – or entire sectors.
The challenge isn't finding a podcast. It's knowing which few seconds matter among tens of thousands of hours of new conversations every day.
In June 2026, Galaxy Digital CEO Mike Novogratz appeared on Anthony Scaramucci's independent All Things Markets podcast.
During the conversation, Novogratz discussed Galaxy's 1.6 GW Helios AI data-centre campus. While the capacity itself was already public, he provided a significantly more optimistic outlook for leasing the remaining capacity than the company had previously communicated publicly, saying he expected the entire 1.6 GW to be leased by the end of the summer.
The podcast was released on Saturday.
When markets reopened on Monday, Galaxy Digital shares rose 21%, their largest one-day gain since November 2024. Financial media subsequently highlighted Novogratz's podcast comments when explaining the rally.
The information was publicly available all weekend.
You just had to know where to listen.
On Friday, 10 January 2025, Mark Zuckerberg appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience. During the conversation, he questioned the near-term usefulness of quantum computing, saying his understanding was that practical quantum computing remained more than a decade away.
Before regular US trading began on Monday:
Rigetti was down 16%. IonQ was down 15%. D-Wave was down 14%.
During Monday's session, losses exceeded 25% for several quantum-computing stocks. Financial media subsequently highlighted Zuckerberg's comments as one of the catalysts behind the renewed sell-off, following similar scepticism expressed by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang earlier that week.
Zuckerberg hadn't announced anything about those companies. He didn't need to.
Understanding the speaker, topic and companies potentially affected turned a comment buried inside a long podcast into a financial signal.
Academic research published in 2026 provides evidence that podcast discussions can affect how information reaches financial markets.
Do Podcasts Move the Stock Market? analysed more than 100,000 time-stamped discussions of individual stocks in investing podcasts. The researchers found increased trading activity and larger absolute price movements following podcast discussions, with the strongest effects on the day episodes were released. Effects were particularly pronounced for forward-looking discussions and explicit buy or sell recommendations.
A separate 2026 study published in the Review of Accounting Studies, based on 49,772 investing-podcast episodes across 1,782 shows, found podcast coverage associated with increased trading activity and faster price formation.
Podcasts aren't simply another media format. They are part of the information flow into financial markets.
